At the Águeda Youth Center, we offer two types of volunteering opportunities that allow you to make a significant impact and create positive change in our community. Whether you want to support local organizations in Águeda or get involved with young people from different parts of Europe through the European Solidarity Corps, we have something for you.

Local volunteering in Águeda:
Our local volunteer program, Step1, is a great way to contribute to the development and well-being of our beautiful city. We partner with several local organizations that are dedicated to a range of causes, such as education, environmental conservation, social welfare, arts and culture, among others. As a local volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work directly with these organizations and help them with their projects and initiatives. This hands-on experience not only allows you to give back to the community, but will also equip you with valuable skills and opportunities for personal growth. By volunteering locally, you will have the opportunity to network with the people of Águeda, learn about the unique challenges they face and actively participate in creating positive change. Whether you are interested in working with children, seniors, organizing events, preserving our environment or helping those in need, there is a local volunteer opportunity that suits your passions and interests!

European Solidarity Corps (ESC):
As part of our commitment to promoting tolerance and intercultural collaboration, we make active use of the European Solidarity Corps programme. The European Solidarity Corps, funded by the National Agency Erasmus+ Youth/Sports and CES, brings together young people from different parts of Europe to participate in significant volunteer projects that address the most diverse themes in different corners of the continent.
We welcome enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers from various European countries to join us in Águeda. By participating in the European Solidarity Corps, you will have the opportunity to work alongside other young European volunteers, exchange cultural perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of the diverse realities that shape European reality.
Together, we will contribute to projects that aim to have a positive impact on the local and European community, promoting social inclusion, intercultural dialogue and active citizenship. Regardless of the volunteering opportunity you choose - local or European - it will play an essential role in building a better future for Águeda and for Europe. Our team will provide you with guidance, support and training throughout your volunteer journey, ensuring you have a rewarding and enriching experience.

Victoria, a 20-year-old Estonian girl in search of self-discovery and new experiences. 🙌 After studying nursing💉 she decided to follow a different path, eager to find herself. She enjoys listening to music in her free time. Victoria is very excited to explore Portugal, enjoy the sunny weather and learn the local culture and language, and is keen to connect with people. 👀 Victoria has been playing the piano for several years 🎹 which has become an important part of her life. With enthusiasm and determination, she is ready to embark on her journey, embracing the many possibilities that await her. 🤗

Theresa is 24 years old and comes from a small village in the mountains of Austria. 🇦🇹 In her hometown, she worked as an elementary school teacher in a kindergarten. Part-time, she trained to become an inclusive primary teacher for children with special needs. 👶 Spending time in nature always gives her a lot of energy and she likes to be creative in different ways.🌿 The quote she lives by is "trust the timing of your life" because it helps her to accept what is happening instead of trying to change it. She is very excited about this new experience.🤗

In the next 10 years he sees himself in Portugal working as a scientist. 👨🔬 He is from San Salvatore Telesino, a small town located in the south of Italy, where he had the opportunity to volunteer and play with children last year. 🇮🇹 Humility is her most important value. 👀 She dreams of learning from young people how to plan and improve the future. 💭
